Ever wondered if all numbers can be expressed as a fraction? That is to say, does there exist any numbers which are not rational and can be proven so? In this video the square root of 2 will be shown to be irrational and give a great example of proof by contradiction. This proof will also utilize a sub-proof by contraposition making a great introductory video to proof techniques. Correction: I should have assumed gcd(p,q)=1, and then at 8:34 showed that the p and q have a common divisor of 2 which contradicts the assumption.
